Big Tree Medical providers do write for controlled substances and commonly manage conditions that are often treated with controlled substances such as attention deficit disorder (both in adults and children), generalized anxiety disorder, obesity and male and female hormonal deficiencies. Many of these medicines are available at our pharmacy at a reduced price. Our pharmacy does not carry opioids or narcotics. Our providers do not prescribe opioids or narcotics.

Andrea has a special interest in women’s health and weight loss. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri and spent nine years working as a registered nurse before joining Big Tree. She went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Missouri. Andrea grew up in Cole Camp, Missouri. In high school, she was voted “Most Musical” – and later, while working on a postpartum unit, her calm and steady presence earned her the title of “Most Relaxed.” Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. If she weren’t in the medical field, she’d be teaching in an elementary classroom.

Stephanie is a dual Family Nurse Practitioner & Certified Nurse-Midwife. She has traveled extensively around the world working in all levels of medicine – from mud huts in Africa, delivering babies by candlelight to large ships sailing around the world as part of the medical team. She spent 10 years in the ICU before attaining her advanced degrees, and currently also has her own Functional Medicine telemedicine practice focusing on Gut Health. She has a broad understanding of wellbeing and vitality, and views health as a birthright and natural state of the body — when it has what it needs.

Ms. Staten has over 9 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner and enjoys providing a full range of primary health care for all ages. She is experienced in managing complex chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD as well as acute care conditions such as urinary tract infections, sinusitis, colds, flu, minor injuries, and many others. Misty Gaddis has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for 13 years and is currently working in a primary care setting. In 2018 Misty graduated from The University of North Florida with a Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice. “As a family nurse practitioner I treat pediatric to geriatric patients, I am also very knowledgeable in women’s health.”
Gaddis began her nursing career almost 20 years ago in a hospital setting in labor and delivery. She worked in the operating room, nicu, postpartum care, and med surge overflow. During that time Misty began her journey in graduate school and obtained her Master of Science Degree in Nursing.

Megan is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She specializes in primary care of patients of every age. She was born and raised in Massachusetts. Megan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Regis College in 2008. She went on to work as the charge nurse on a busy cardiac and medical/surgical floor for five years. She continued her nursing education at Regis College and completed her Master of Science degree in 2013 as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Megan has over seven years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in internal medicine and adult cardiology. In addition, she also has experience in telehealth, urgent care, and women’s health. Megan is highly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of a multitude of acute and chronic medical conditions in the primary care setting with an added emphasis on disease prevention, health management and patient education. Further, given her background in general cardiology, she is exceptionally knowledgeable in the management and treatment of atrial fibrillation/flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, tachycardia/bradycardia, aortic stenosis, aortic aneurysms, coronary artery disease, myocardial infarctions, chronic heart failure, cardiomyopathies, pulmonary hypertension, irregular heart rhythm/palpitations, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.

Martha is an accomplished Family Nurse Practitioner, Board-certified in multiple states. She has expertise in comprehensive physical examinations, acute minor care, chronic care, and wellness examinations. Martha has the unique ability to apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to diagnose, treat, and care for patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics.

My name is Kristin Goetz and I am a board certified Family Nurse and Emergency Nurse Practitioner. I have always lived in rural Kansas, but have practiced in Wichita since the beginning of my nursing career in 2009. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Bethel College in Newton, Ks, and my Masters from Walden University in Baltimore, MD in 2014. I love medicine and am very passionate about helping my patients. I am always wanting to learn and do more in my career, and I am currently studying and working towards my doctorate through Baylor University in Waco, Tx.
I have been married to my husband for 13 years, and we have been blessed with four amazing children, Lucas 11, Alexis 9, Olivia 6, and Elaina 1 year old. We are fourth generation farmers to two thousand acres of farm ground and raise cattle, goats, chicken, ducks, and kune-kune pigs.

Kori Williams grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and then attended Colorado State University from 1988-1992 and received her BS in Social Sciences and Anthropology. Her love of animals led her into the veterinarian industry where she worked for over a decade. Her love for science and medicine then led her to continuing her education and receiving her third BS, this one in Nursing from Rockhurst College in Kansas City in 2006. She continued her pursuit for higher education and received her MS in nursing in 2008, also from Rockhurst College/Research College of Nursing. As a nurse and a nurse practitioner Kori worked in the emergency department until her passion for holistic medicine then led her into the health/wellness field focusing on preventative medicine where she has helped patients achieve their health goals for the past 12+ years. During this time she has also worked as a clinical supervisor for many years. This passion for optimal health, nutrition and regenerative medicine has led her to combine her love of science by utilizing her skills as a clinician using techniques such as injections and nutrition expertise for overall health and wellness for her patients. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart with three children. She loves traveling with her family, skiing, camping and seeing live music in her free time.

Juvy Jabel graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in Family Health. She has been board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2013 and has been in health care since 1995.
Throughout her career, Juvy has worked in various hospitals across the country, gaining experience in emergency medicine, intensive care, and outpatient family practice.

Dave Freeman has been a Nurse Practitioner for 20 years. His main focus is on primary care, hypertension, diabetes, weight, and anxiety issues. His work in medicine began with an interest in working with the medically underserved. Dave joined work team projects in the inner city, Puerto Rico, and the Flying Samaritans. He started as a big city first responder, followed by emergency nursing in a busy county hospital. He has also worked as an ER nurse and disability evaluator with the VA.

Brandi is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Born and raised in Georgia, Brandi graduated from Brenau University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science in 2000, followed by a Masters of Nursing Science degree in 2006.
Throughout her entire nursing career, Brandi’s main focus has been in Emergency Medicine. She began her career in Georgia’s oldest hospital, which continues to have one of the country’s most distinguished cardiac and vascular programs. Brandi has also worked in several large trauma centers along the east coast from Georgia to Virginia serving in multiple positions from staff nurse, cardiac clinical resource nurse, to nurse practitioner. She has also expanded her career working as a clinical adjunct in the nursing department for multiple colleges, also in the home healthcare realm providing services to at-risk individuals, and working as a provider in remote villages throughout the Bering Strait region of Alaska. Brandi remains a current member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
In her off time, Brandi enjoys spending time with her family, traveling in their RV, as well as focusing on continuing her education to further help care for her community and patients.

Betsy is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has over 12 years experience practicing medicine. She has worked in a variety of settings, but mostly same day urgent care needs. Betsy enjoys working with all ages in treating acute and chronic illnesses. Betsy has been working in a Weight Management Program for the last 2 years seeing both medical and surgical patients. She is passionate about helping patients understand their diagnoses, so that they feel a part of their treatment plan. She graduated with her RN from Oklahoma City Community College in 2010 and started her career here at Norman Regional. She specializes in chronic illnesses, mental health, and primary care.

Trevor Perdue, DNP, FNP-C, is a dedicated healthcare professional with over a decade of experience in the field. He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from The Ohio State University. Before joining Big Tree, Trevor worked at a Federally Qualified Health Center, where he provided comprehensive primary care services to patients from diverse backgrounds. His career also includes valuable experience at a health department, where he offered primary care and public health services to the community, and as an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at a local college. Trevor relocated from Kansas City to the Columbia area and is excited to bring his expertise and passion for patient care to his new community. He does not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to medicine and is a strong advocate for shared decision making. Trevor has special interests in primary and preventative care, weight loss, cardiovascular disease risk reduction, acute care and procedural medicine. Outside of his professional life, Trevor enjoys running, cooking, trout fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends. He also loves to travel. Chase Vargo, FNP-C, is from Farmington, Missouri, and has built a successful career in nursing. She began her journey at Mineral Area College, earning an Associate’s degree in Nursing, and then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Methodist University. Driven by a passion for advanced practice nursing, Chase went on to complete a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at the University of Missouri (Mizzou). With over six years of experience on the medical-surgical floor at University Hospital, Chase has honed her clinical skills and gained invaluable experience. Her professional interests have since expanded to include a special focus on aesthetics, where she seamlessly blends her clinical expertise with an eye for enhancing beauty and wellness. Dr. Sarah Calhoun is a Board Certified Family Physician who completed her medical training right here in Columbia at the University of Missouri. She sees patients of all ages. Dr. Adam Wheeler is the CEO and co-founder of Big Tree Medical. He has worked in health care for more than 20 years. Before starting Big Tree in 2017, he was a managing partner at Tiger Pediatrics. He has a special interest in general pediatrics, mental health, medical weight loss, and health care reform. In 2021 he won Columbia, Missouri’s Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2019, he won the University of Missouri Best Young Physician award. In his spare time, he likes driving, fly fishing, and hanging out with his 4 children.

Brooke launched Big Tree Pharmacy from the ground up in 2020 and has been an essential part of the Big Tree team ever since. As a Doctor of Pharmacy graduate of St. Louis College of Pharmacy (now the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy), Brooke brings a deep commitment to accessible, patient-centered care. What drives her is Big Tree’s mission: to make health care more affordable, more personalized, and more convenient. Brooke is passionate about creating a pharmacy experience that puts patients first – emphasizing relationships and compassion over insurance mandates and metrics. When she’s not at Big Tree, Brooke loves spending time with her husband, their three active kids, and two dogs. She likes to start her mornings with a run, workout, or a game of pickleball – her favorite new hobby!
Amanda may have the sweetest voice on the phone, but don’t be fooled – this no‑nonsense, hard‑working woman used to repo cars before becoming a nurse! She earned her RN while working full‑time and raising her three children, and as a tech, she earned the “Greatest Catch” award from University Hospital for recognizing a patient in distress and calling a code. Since joining Big Tree in 2018, Amanda has become an integral part of the team and now serves as our Nurse Manager, ensuring our clinics run smoothly and our members receive the best care possible. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and shopping, and if she weren’t a nurse, she’d be a teacher.
Tony has lived in Central Missouri his entire life and, for the past 26 years, has been raising six kids on a farm with his wife. That kind of life builds grit, heart, and a get-it-done attitude – and Tony brings all of it to Big Tree every day. As our Facilities Manager, he’s the reason our clinics stay safe, functional, and comfortable. From emergency repairs to everyday maintenance to building out new spaces, Tony does it all!
Christina earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Columbia College. Before joining Big Tree Medical, she retired from the State of Missouri, where she made a lasting impact in public finance. During her tenure, Christina’s work earned the Missouri Department of Transportation its first Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting – the highest national honor for financial reporting. Outside of work, Christina stays busy keeping up with her husband, three grown children, and grandchild. She is active in her church, serves on the Callaway Youth Expo Fair Board, and the Auxvasse Rodeo Committee. Known for her love of numbers, strong ethical foundation, and remarkable attention to detail, Christina brings both expertise and heart to everything she does.
A native of Chicago, Keith moved to Columbia a few years ago to be closer to his son at Mizzou and his in-laws at the Lake (seriously). After starting his career with an international accounting firm and progressing with organizations of all sizes and various industries, Keith is committed to the mission of Big Tree Medical to enhance the lives of the members of our community. From completing the most basic tasks to helping solve the biggest issues, he is energized every day by contributing to the positive impact on the people we serve. After devoting most of their time to the school and sports activities of their two children over the years, Keith and his wife recently became empty-nesters and are planning the next phase of their journey.
Jami moved to Columbia from Iowa at the age of ten and has proudly called it home ever since. A true foodie, she knows all the best local spots and loves exploring the city’s dining scene—especially on girls’ nights filled with sushi and downtown shopping. On weekends, you’ll often find her enjoying play dates with friends and their kids. Passionate about giving back, Jami is dedicated to serving her community—whether through her work, her church, or local nonprofits.
Originally from Wisconsin, Jennifer met her husband and began her family in Fort Worth, Texas. She later settled in Columbia, where she has lived for the past 17 years. At Big Tree Medical, she enjoys supporting business owners in addressing their employees’ health care needs and improving access to care. She oversees enrollment for businesses of all sizes and serves as the primary point of contact for all employer groups. She manages group accounts and supports both employers and their teams throughout the onboarding process and beyond. Outside of work, she dedicates her time to Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Foundation, a nonprofit she and her husband founded in honor of their daughter, Lizzy. The foundation raises awareness, funds research, and supports families navigating pediatric cancer.
Izzy is the Marketing Manager at Big Tree Medical, where she leads all things creative – from social media and ad campaigns to emails, web updates, and patient communications. She joined Big Tree right after graduating from Mizzou with a degree in Strategic Communication and quickly found her stride helping bring the brand to life. Her work helps connect patients to care – and reminds them why Big Tree is different. She recently moved to Colorado with her boyfriend and is now working remotely for Big Tree. On the weekends, you’ll probably find her hiking with her dogs, playing pickleball, or trying out a new recipe!
Lauren received her Biology degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and decided to stick around Columbia. She worked as a physician recruiter out of college and loved traveling around the country. She also worked in user-interface software development, strategic planning, training and workflow optimization as well as working at Veterans United as a top credit consultant before coming to Big Tree in May of 2023! She enjoys managing the software programs and improving processes and customer service. A mom of 3 boys and a girl, she’s often transporting kids around to their various activities or traveling or camping!
As Director of Operations at Big Tree Medical, Darcie works behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly – from the moment a patient signs up to the systems that support providers day in and day out. While she may not be the face patients see at their visit, she’s the one making sure the right tools, people, and processes are in place so care feels seamless. Darcie is passionate about building operations that support real health care – the kind that’s personal, accessible, and truly works for both patients and providers. Whether it’s streamlining workflows, solving challenges before they surface, or quietly optimizing in the background, she’s focused on helping Big Tree grow strong from the inside out. Fueled by systems thinking, color-coded checklists, and very strong coffee, Darcie brings calm to the chaos of health care operations. When she’s not streamlining workflows, she’s navigating group chats, college apps, and snack shortages as a mom to three teenagers and a twenty-something – her ultimate training ground for multitasking and the art of negotiation.
