Dave Freeman, FNP/PA, MPAS

Dave Freeman has been a Nurse Practitioner for 20 years. His main focus is on primary care, hypertension, diabetes, weight, and anxiety issues. His work in medicine began with an interest in working with the medically underserved. Dave joined work team projects in the inner city, Puerto Rico, and the Flying Samaritans. He started as a big city first responder, followed by emergency nursing in a busy county hospital. He has also worked as an ER nurse and disability evaluator with the VA.

Dave and his family made the move to the Rocky Mountain High Plains where he worked for Indian Health Services assigned to the ER and remote area critical care transport and home visits. He later became a Nurse Practitioner in primary care and enjoyed the experience of culture, language, and significance of traditional healing.

During his time in the Rocky Mountain High Plains, Dave completed a BS and was accepted to the Primary Care Associate Program at Stanford’s Department of Family Medicine. He completed a dual-track FNP and PA program and later added a Master’s in Primary Care at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He holds a Post-Master’s Certificate in Environmental Medicine from Duke Medical Center.

Dave is nationally certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and as a PA through NCCPA. In addition to these accomplishments, Dave is certified in Quality Assurance by ABQUARP and is a member of the American Associate of Diabetic Care and Education Specialists.

His wife, a licensed family therapist, inspires him every day. Dave enjoys listening to and collaborating with his patients. His next step is to advance in the field of telehealth with Big Tree.
