Virtual Primary Care Is Making Healthcare Accessible for Underserved Americans

One of the greatest problems of modern American healthcare is the lack of access to quality healthcare for rural communities. Fortunately, Big Tree has a solution. Our Virtual Primary Care is accessible from anywhere in the country so long as you have a reliable Internet connection.

How Is Telehealth Different From In-Person Doctor’s Visits?

We’ll be the first to say it:  Virtual Primary Care is different from in-person care. It is not better or worse than in-person care and has pros and cons, just like in-person care. For example, virtual care patients can not receive physical exams, which makes diagnosing some diseases more difficult. However, virtual care allows for more regular communication with your healthcare provider. This flexibility allows you to meet with your provider as soon as an illness or injury occurs, not weeks later.

Virtual Primary Care Makes Life Easier for Patients & Providers

Say goodbye to travel time and waiting rooms. Taking off work and driving to the doctor’s office, only to wait beyond your appointment time is robbing Americans of their time. Once you do see a doctor, the visit is fleeting and you might feel like you were not able to cover every issue you wanted to. Rural Americans are at a particular disadvantage because they might have to take a day off work and drive hours just to see a primary care physician. True patient-centered care considers the advantages and disadvantages of virtual care and puts a premium on patient convenience.

Schedule an Appointment When You Need It

Need an appointment today? No problem. We allow patients unlimited same-day access to care via secure video-chat and messaging. Whether you need a refill on a regular prescription or have a new symptom that is troubling you, we have time and can help you today. If you have a simple health question that you’d rather trust to a nurse or physician over Google, just text your provider. We’ll respond to your text message with helpful information. It’s all included in your monthly fee. No visit fees. No co-pays. No deductibles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Is Covered Through Telehealth?
    • Acute Conditions: sinus infections, UTIs, colds, rashes, etc.
    • Chronic Conditions: diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, etc.
    • Weight loss
    • Mental health conditions: depression, anxiety, etc.
  • Can I Access Controlled Substances Through Telehealth?

Most providers choose not to prescribe controlled substances through virtual-only clinics. However, this is up to each provider, your state’s laws, and changing federal laws.

  • What if My Virtual Care Provider Can’t Help Me With Something?

No primary care clinic takes care of everything. Most primary care clinics will refer patients to urgent care simply because they don’t have time to see them. We send far fewer patients to urgent care than traditional clinics because we can see all of our patients that need care. If your provider feels you need additional care, they may refer you to a specialist.

Some cases require an emergency room or urgent care visit when a physical exam is critical. Too often patients don’t know what to do, and they don’t have anyone looking out for their interests. Now they do.

We are a primary care clinic, and like any primary care clinic, we can handle every situation. Heart attacks, difficulty breathing, strokes, and similar situations require care that you can only receive at a hospital. Surgery, colonoscopies, and other physical procedures are pretty hard to do over a text message. Most of our patients use us as part of a health care package that includes something like insurance to cover catastrophic health needs. We are happy to connect you with some of our partners if you are looking for a more affordable way to protect yourself from these situations. Contact us to learn how you can pair your primary healthcare with insurance.

  • Can I Talk to My Care Provider 24/7?

Yes. We limit the number of patients that our providers care for so they have time to handle urgent needs even after hours. We offer appointments during normal business hours, but health needs often occur at the most inopportune hours, so we are here for you.

  • Will I Have Access to Vaccines or Lab Work?

If you already have insurance, Big Tree can help you access more affordable vaccines, medication, and labs than what your insurance copay or deductible might cover.

  • I Already Have a Specialist? Will You Work With Them?

Just like any primary care clinic, we refer to local specialists, transfer medical records, and coordinate care. Many patients find that it is easier for us to care for their chronic illnesses. A surprising number of patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, and depression see cardiologists, endocrinologists, and psychiatrists, even though most of these patients can be cared for through primary care. And since it doesn’t cost them anything extra, many patients have us handle their chronic conditions.
